Installing carpet vs laminate flooring; which-is-cheaper ?

laminate flooring

Owning a home calls for a big joy and celebration. But certain decisions need to be made before you can move into the house. One of such decisions is the type of flooring you want. Read more.

Do you prefer carpet installation to laminate flooring? Or is it the inverse?

Well, whatever your preference might be, it doesn’t matter if you can’t afford it. Flooring stores wouldn’t tell you the truth about prices and durability, but this article will.

Carpet vs. laminate flooring: Cost and cost-effectiveness

Most people prefer carpet flooring because it is cheaper and easier to install. Carpets are soft and cushy to feel and provides a sort of comfort. This doesn’t go without saying that “it is not as cost-effective as the laminate flooring.”

Laminate flooring might be very expensive, but you’ll get your money’s worth at the end of the day. Remember that flooring is an investment that becomes a permanent and important part of your home.

Laminate flooring has double the lifespan of carpets. Carpets can last for 8-12 years “all things being equal.” Laminate flooring on the other hand can last for more than 20 years.

The durability of both types of flooring also depends largely on the product quality. Laminate flooring is the best kind of flooring, but a bad product will pose an issue. If the product is bad, it will incur more cost for replacement. Hence, research products before purchasing them.

Carpet vs. laminate flooring: ease of cleaning

Laminate flooring are easier to maintain and clean. With it, you do not have to worry about spilled drinks at house parties. It’s easy, you just clean it up and it is good as new. Carpet flooring on the other hand will stress you. Washing it or vacuuming might not even do justice to the stain marks that will be left.

Most types of laminate flooring are fade-resistant, scratch-resistant, and burn-resistant. It is for these reasons that laminate flooring get to last longer. Carpets, on the other hand, might amplify a fire in case of an outbreak, since they do not burn resistant.

Carpet vs. laminate flooring: designs

Carpets and laminate flooring have good designs depending on your “good designs” ideology. For me, carpet designs are always patterned and it bores me. Laminate flooring on the other hand comes with versatile designs and patterns.

Rugs can be added to laminate floors and changed over time to suit your taste. Carpets on the other hand need to be removed totally if you need change. Fresh updates are easier with laminate floorings. Tuning it to suit your exotic tastes is not stressful at all—just expensive.

Still, it depends on your preference. Choose whatever will bring out the beauty of your home. Preference is largely dependent on cost. But can you put a price on durability and long-term investments? No! I don’t think so. Sometimes you need to overlook the price and do what’s best for you and your family; carpet or laminate flooring.
